Olympique Lyon and adidas have linked up to drop the club’s third jersey for the upcoming season, and with the newfound freedom that is associated with third kits – that is, escaping tradition and experimenting with bolder patterns or more avant-garde inspirations – the French club have released one of the most striking designs of the year.
The jersey displays an overarching grunge aesthetic across the front and sleeves, with the black background and white elements creating a monochrome appeal which continues throughout the design.
The prominent grunge theme is seen to heavily contrast with the detailing of the jersey, which portrays an eye-catching simplicity. The crest ditches the traditional blue, red and white of the Olympique Lyon Jersey and instead opts for a clean white outline, further complimented with the white ‘adidas’ and ‘Fly Emirates’ logos.
The jersey is set to debut on September 16, in Lyon’s first Europa League game of the season which is away to Glasgow Rangers.
