Nike have just launched PSG’s 21/22 third shirt, a black and grey strip “inspired by the shirts in which the club has dazzled since the 1990s”.
The restrained colours are said to act as “the perfect backdrop to highlight the exploits of the Parisian players” and consequently showcase the outstanding talent of the French Giants’ squad for the new campaign – especially on the European Stage where all eyes will inevitably be on Les Parisiens.
Whilst the predominantly monochrome design might seem to, at least initially, give the jersey a more inconspicuous look, several aspects of the shirt make sure this is not the case. The iconic Hechter stripe has been flipped horizontally, and is complimented by an electric red PSG emblem taking pride above in the centre, illustrating the immense energy of the Rouge & Bleu fans.
Two swooshes adorn each of the sleeves of the 21/22 jersey, representing Paris and Paname (a nickname fondly used by PSG supporters for their team).
The 21/22 Third kit is made from 100% recycled polyester from plastic bottles. This manufacturing method combines top-quality performance with a reduced carbon footprint.
The corresponding Third collection further utilises the monochrome tones, using an array of black and grey which is complimented by occasional flashes of the eye-catching electric red seen in the 21/22 third jersey.
Several items in the collection pay tribute to the supporters of PSG via Parisian postcode numbers (77, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95).
The selection is made up of a track jacket, checkerboard hoodie, an all-grey dress and another hoodie embellished with regal red accents.
The 21/22 Paris Saint-Germain Third kit will be available to Nike and PSG Members from September 13 in Paris Saint-Germain stores, on nike.com & PSG.fr – and on full retail from September 17.
