Burberry unveil Son Heung-min as Brand Ambassador

The British luxury brand has previously made impact with its initiatives and imagery starring Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, and Son Heung-Min’s arrival further marks the ever-growing relationship between football and high fashion. This trend was most notably seen in both Jack Grealish’s deal with Gucci and Kylian Mbappé’s partnership with Dior, announced earlier this year.

To announce the link-up, the Tottenham forward has been photographed in a series of pieces from the London brand’s Pre-Autumn/Winter 2022 collection.

The three looks consist of: a black nylon and cotton hooded jacket with cargo trousers and sneakers; an archive Burberry Check nylon hooded jacket and matching shorts; and a camel hair and wool sleeveless tailored coat.

The company said: “As a brand with a deep and storied British heritage, we are proud to partner with such a highly decorated professional football player within the English Premier League.

“Marking history as the first Asian player to co-win the 2021/2022 Golden Boot award, an annual award presented to the leading goal scorer in the Premier League, Son Heung-min’s career is a tale of having big dreams and working passionately towards them. Reflecting Burberry’s belief in opening spaces and unlocking the power of imagination to push boundaries, we welcome Son Heung-min to the Burberry Family.”

“I’m happy to be the new ambassador for Burberry,” says Son. “Being an athlete from the British Premier League, it’s my honour to partner with a brand so rich in British heritage. I love Burberry’s strive for imagination and innovation which has been deeply inherited in its history, which are values that I champion. I’m very excited for our newfound journey that we will together develop.”
