Nine adidas manufactured teams have partnered with the German sportswear giant to re-display the classic Teamgeist template, synonymous with a golden generation of football.
Fifteen years on from the originals, Arsenal, Ajax, Bayern Munich, Boca Juniors, Celtic, Flamengo, Juventus, Manchester United and Real Madrid will all have special collections released under the recognisable design, fit for the modern era.
The Teamgeist template was first used at the 2006 World Cup, where adidas produced kits for national teams such as Argentina, France, Germany, Japan and Spain, with the jerseys later exhibited by English greats such as Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and David Beckham through their domestic teams respectively.
Even though most of the featured teams weren’t partnered with adidas at the time of the original Teamgeist, this has provided no boundary for the sharp shirts to be re-designed, with only Real Madrid and FC Bayern making comparisons between their 2006 original and the new colourways.
Highlights of the collection see Celtic issued with a shrewd black and neon green jersey and a neat white Boca shirt accompanied by a neat blue tracksuit.
But undoubtedly the best piece of the collection is Arsenals deep red and gold jersey, echoing the commemorative 2005/06 ‘Highbury’ home shirt.
Each club collection is to consist of jerseys and a range of lifestyle pieces, including t-shirts, tracksuits and sweatshirts.
The jerseys are now available via the adidas store, with the lifestyle pieces to drop in February 2022.
