Nike Unveil The Air Mercurial Tn

Nike has kicked off the new year with an attention-grabbing release, unveiling the Air Mercurial Tn. This striking drop combines elements from the Air Zoom Mercurial Superfly IX and the Air Max Plus OG, featuring a colourway that pays homage to the iconic 1998 ‘Voltage Purple’ drop.

The Air Mercurial Tn collection showcases the Air Zoom Mercurial Superfly IX and the Air Max Plus OG side by side, both adorned in matching “Volt Purple/Total Orange” colour schemes that acknowledge the sneaker’s heritage. Kylian Mbappe wasted no time showcasing the former, as he was spotted wearing the special edition release during a recent training session with PSG.

This collection seamlessly merges the distinctive design of the Air Max with the silhouette of the Nike Mercurial Superfly. The instantly recognizable wavy aesthetic is manifested in purple and black hues across both sets of footwear. An interesting alteration for the Superfly includes the replacement of the Tn on the trainer’s sole plate and liner with a Zm.

The trainer, crafted from a ‘Voltage Purple’ mesh construction, also features a glossy black cage. A vibrant ‘Total Orange’ Swoosh runs through the lateral and medial sidewalls, extending towards the iconic hexagonal badges on the tongue and heel. Smooth leather wraps around the mudguards, and reminiscent of the OG from ’98, the extra chunky midsole incorporates Air Max technology.

The Air Mercurial Tn not only pays tribute to the rich history of Nike’s sneaker releases but also introduces a fresh take on the iconic ‘Voltage Purple’ drop from 1998. With Kylian Mbappe already endorsing the special edition release, the collection is set to make waves in the sneaker scene, blending heritage with contemporary style.
